Lauren Kim is a multi-disciplinary artist working out of Los Angeles, specializing in photography, design, and direction.
Visual arts have always been a deeply ingrained part of her identity. Kim grew up in a creative family and was lucky enough to have been encouraged from a young age to explore her relationship to the arts by her parents. She grew up painting and drawing, before finding photography in high school, which sparked a decade-long exploration into the medium that continues to be at the forefront of her practice today. In college, she merged her love of image making with her love of design and began to hone in on what she wanted to explore within both of these realms.
Kim's practice is primarily made up of several core themes that serve as a through-line for her work, namely experimentation, interpersonal relationships, unexpected texture, movement and abstraction. At present day, as the world continues to ebb and flow, she finds her voice within her creative sensibilities in coming back to these core elements.
